About us

A warm welcome awaits you when you visit The Botanic Nursery.

Everything we do revolves around gardening in harmony with the wildlife that shares our site. Many visitors remark on the peaceful atmosphere of the nursery and garden, also the number and variety of birds that can be heard. When you enter the nursery you can wander around the garden or go directly to peruse the sales area.

Terry has over 50 years’ expertise in all areas of gardening and is a passionate propagator. Mary grew up helping her father in his market garden and creating beautiful floral arrangements, a talent that helps win many medals at the flower show exhibits.

Our plants are grown in the traditional manner, where the needs of each individual plant are understood.  There is always something to be seen in the gardens, here are some of our specialities:

April - May - just about everything in various sizes available

June – Foxgloves & Peonies

July – Hollyhocks, Monarda and Dierama

August – Shrubs & Salvia

September – Autumn Joy, Asters, Grasses and Foliage Shrubs

SHRUBS - Terrys first passion and the backbone of the nursery sales beds. We have a lovely range of interesting shrubs and woody plants, often available as small plants to grow on yourself or select a specimen sized plant to make instant impact in your border. Available all seasons.

We exhibit at many major flower shows and received our first Royal Horticultural Society Gold medal in June 1999 for an exhibit of Foxgloves at the summer show. In between then and now we have gained over 30 medals. We were very proud to receive The Queens Jubilee Gold Medal in 2012 at Chelsea Flower Show. Winning medals is not done by just one person and we are grateful for all the team who help us.

If you fancy helping out at a flower show please do contact us we are always glad of assistance, setting up, open days and the breakdown period.
